I decided to try something new and exciting for Easter, and of course Italian! Capisci?
Sometimes called “whole orange cake,” it was invented by monks in a Catania monastery using the entire fruit, giving this cake an amazing, intense flavor. It’s topped with candied organic oranges, fluffy almond buttercream and slivered almonds. The texture is a bit denser than the typical American cake, but it is moist and citrusy with a light orange glaze. Take a bite and imagine yourself on the rocky terrace of Taormina overlooking the sea!
I think this is one of the most delicious things I’ve ever made!
