“I am always happy when I’m in the kitchen and can focus on things I do best.”

I just turned 50 and launched a dessert gift-giving business!   Dave and I have been married for 25 years with 3 kids:  Ryan (22), Alex (20), Cami (17).  Also Kona, rescue beagle, age a mystery.    For years I was a stay-at-home mom, and now enjoying some freedom since I am no longer a full time taxi driver!

My very first job around middle school age was in a local bakery where I’d ride my bike at the crack of dawn. Everyone said, “You’re going to get sick of the sweets,” but I never did. I’ve always had a sweet tooth and for as long as I can remember I’ve loved to bake. They say “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” This is mostly true though not 100%, who are we kidding! Certain things are more challenging for me in terms of running a business, but I am always happy when I’m in the kitchen and can focus on things I do best.

My family has always enjoyed entertaining. Food is comfort and dessert is an indulgence no matter where you are enjoying it, and I’m ALL about dessert.  Any time we are invited somewhere, our friends and family know I’m bringing dessert. I truly love making something sweet for everyone to enjoy. Unfortunately I have to wait until the end of the night to serve it!

Eventually my love of baking parlayed into a business.  As the former CEO of Stack Happy Sweets, my experience in small business and desserts/gift giving has prepared me to venture out and start anew with Bake to Square One. I’m excited, nervous, happy and proud all at once!  BTSO has a brand new line of cookie flavors and cookie cakes created meticulously from scratch.  They are all individually wrapped for freshness and safety, and beautifully gift-boxed for transport. It’s a unique gift with options for personalization based on message, occasion or holiday!

Special thanks to my husband Dave who has spent several years as my business advisor, a job for which he never signed up and unfortunately pays little.  He doesn’t even like dessert… he’d rather have another helping of mashed potatoes (eye roll).  But his advice has been invaluable and his support means everything.

Gotta run, the timer on the oven just went off.   Mmmm smells good in here!
